Its time to get down to the nitty gritty. There are statistics, even government statistics mind you, that prove that black women should probably be mad. (I’ll get to the probably in another post). Black men tend to marry outside of their race compared to other men. No more mud slinging on either side, male or female. Let’s base information on surveys and facts. We have to know what the problem is, if there is one, in order to fix it.

African American and Asian: These marriages are still fairly rare. When these couples do marry, it’s 6.15 times more likely that the husband will be African-American and the wife Asian.

African American and White: When African-Americans and Whites marry, there is 2.65 times more likely to be an African-American husband and a white wife. In fact, 73 percent of all African-American and White marriages have this setup.

U.S. Census Bureau – After white men, black men are dating outside their race at a higher percentage. Presents same information as above. : Interracial Data Tables by husband and wife

After dealing with subliminal racial messages of beauty in the world they have to deal with being a black female at home. So what then? I’ll definitely continue on this topic from spiritual, physical and mental perspectives.

Since obesity became an epidemic, scientists have continually released statistics that reveal that there are more fat black people and Latinos than white people. According to these statistics they say that blacks are more susceptible to fatness. I haven’t heard the same about Latinos, yet. In fact, J.Lo’s butt is somewhat of an icon. Go in any predominantly white neighborhood and what will you see? You’ll see what I saw: People exercising for not only their weight, but for heart health, muscle health, mental health and goal reaching and for sport. Go into a predominantly black neighborhood or Latino neighborhood and you don’t see the same pattern. More needs to be done in low income communities about good health habits.

As years pass, obesity and overweightness become bigger issues…in America.
This is what every black person, in America, should know: there is a difference between curvy (Marylin Monroe) and fat. There is a difference between being skinny and being thin figured, but out of shape. And lastly, in the human body there is a gradient of body shapes and sizes not just two or three categories. People are variable between the “kinds” of people that money makers put up in airbrushed figures of magazine photos. Ask anyone from an African nation if overweightness is a problem, and they will say no. There are a host of cultural influences that contribute to why this is so. For instance people usually don’t need cars so they walk. Fatness is probably a sign of bad health.

However, it has become popular “science” that black people are more susceptible to diseases such as fatness and AIDS than whites. It’s always compared with whites. Here we go again! And at the expense of what? Gain the whole world for the price of your soul? Please. This does not shock me, as much as it disgusts me. Typical human behavior. Leaning on oneself instead of God’s arm. If black people think it is because of a gene, they will be filled with despair that their looks and health are out of their hands. However, this gene has never been proven. Black people, do not believe this. Take care of your bodies.

People are intelligent. They see a problem, they try to fix it. The scientific method comes naturally. So tell me why scientists can’t get this right. For example, we see an increase in STDs. Its common knowledge that you can develop a sexually transmitted disease by promiscous behavior or contract one by having sex with one who has a disease: we conclude that we should abstain. If someone has contracted a disease, we might say, “Aha! I know how he/she got it. Had unprotected sex with the wrong person. OMG. They are sooo promiscuous!” It is well known that the black population in America is affected by AIDS. So what’s the hypothesis? That American blacks are promiscous. They may support this with evidence that says that promiscuity is caused by an excess of women and shortage of men. But, AIDS is also an epidemic in Africa. Africa seems to prove the hypothesis that black bodies are susceptible to AIDS. But, there is a problem with this.

The problem is the lack of recognition of the pattern or refusal to explore it: no where in the world does AIDS affect people with money. A.K.A. “people with access to excellent medical care”. People spit out statistics so much that I used to wonder if they noticed that they sometimes contradicted each other. With the AIDS epidemic they would say that Africa was hardest hit, but then another statistic would say that India was hardest hit. I eventually realized that the statistics might be telling me that Africa and India alternate between being hardest hit. At least that’s one interpretation. So, now we have this seeming outlier, India. But, I bet I can convince you that only through carefully studied research and time will scientific “facts” be solidified. We’ve come a long way from the superstitions of the Midevil Ages. Accuracy can only be accomplished through careful examination.

Basically, the people suffering from AIDS are the poor. They often live in crowded areas. Not necessarily urban, but resembling that kind of population density. The areas hit in Africa and America are poor. India too has a poor population that suffers from AIDS. So then, all the areas in America, Africa, and India that are hit are only poor areas or relatively poor areas. Africa and India are currently developing nations. In Africa, AIDS rates sky rocket when people live in clustered shanty towns outside of small cities of lofty, expensive skyscrapers. These people have left the rural areas where they were generally doing just fine in terms of health. Looking for a better life, many flock to the centers at a rate that governments can’t keep up with (not the first time its happened in human history). These environments foster so many people living in close community. So, developing nations experience the highest rate of AIDS epidemic. The poor are the ones hit the hardest. In conclusion, the AIDS gene is a myth.

Education, accurate information and health care is what all Americans need when it comes to health conditions. There doesn’t seem to be a reason why some are denied government grant money. When stroke, heart attack, breast cancer, multiple sclerosis and osteoporosis become a problem in the white community so much prevention money is given for prevention and cures. When it is ‘other’ people’s turn the government says that’s what they get for being that way. What way? The government and others blame people for participating in behavior that lead to the disease. Bad health behaviors that lead to AIDS, stroke, heart attack and anything else are performed by all citizens. Some willfully forget that the people they do not help usually do not have money. The government believes it can just stop there. When poor people are the only ones suffering from bad health everything is as it should be or the problem is solved.

Bottom line, bad health is preventable.

My friend is of mixed race. Her mother is Asian, I think Chinese, and her father is white. She was talking to me about one experience with her white boyfriend. She told me he wanted “street cred” with black people, but was afraid to go into the dormitory on campus. This dorm is the multicultural hodgepodge (I think that’s the word) on campus. All shapes and sizes and shades and hues can be found there. I think her boyfriend is scared to go into the dorm because he is afraid that he might get mugged by black males or bump into “annoying” young ladies.

I understand where he is coming from, but not everyone is like the pictures he sees in the media. Dare I say that most people aren’t like what is portrayed in the media. Besides, most black people were never like what was ever portrayed in the media. That’s like saying James Bond actually represents white males. Even Bond’s personality is fake (lol).

Secondly, times change and people change. Some conditions are getting better in the African American community. For example, gun violence has been decreasing for over a decade already and that is because people are deciding not to use guns, not because all the black males are being put in jail.

In this classic remake of the frog that wants to turn into a prince, we will see Disney’s first black princess. Black firsts are always something to be celebrated.

Growing up I never saw myself on t.v. When I was little, I could never picture myslef as a young girl being with a handsome black prince. As I got older I realized that there should not be a reason why I did not see myself on t.v. I was raised to believe that American value that “all men are created equal”. Sadly, that is not how people always operate. There were these false stereotypes subconciously being embedded in my mind about the black body. Disney finally made a round of movies featuring non-white females. Now, we get to the black one. I hope it is every bit as good as the classics: Pocahontas, Cinderella, Aladdin, etc.

I am excited to see it for a couple of reasons. One, I hope it portrays what I now realize about myself and other blacks. Two, if the movie is good the princess will serve as an example to young black girls. Three, if the frog turns into a handsome prince, he will serve as a good example to young black boys.

I’ve noticed that a lot of media outlets with mixed race relationship, where those dating are not of the same race, there is a pattern. Here’s the pattern: the white male can date the black female. The black male can’t date the white female. But that is another subject.

Is there some sort of new fetish post-Halle Barry in Monster’s Ball? You know the scene I’m talking about right? I guess its nice to see people getting into the reality that the look doesn’t make the person, if that is what it is, but at the same time I can’t help being suspicious of any repercussions of this, especially the exploitation of black girls and women in film.

Update: I have seen some relationships with black men white women. I never watched the full media outlet because I was busy or watching something else. But, yeah. Maybe its jungle fever? Hope not.
